I have felt the fire

I have felt the fire
As it licks away at my very being
Its tendrils snake through every
Sin that I’ve committed
And its intense heat whisks away
The piles of wood I have built

God let me feel Your fire
Let it burn away the chaff
Let the tares burn with my sin
Let the memories of my failure
Be dust forever forgotten

I have felt the fire
As it has scorched my very soul
It wraps around my failures
Revealing glitter gold
And its relentless heat melts away
This ugly heart of stone I keep

Chorus

I have felt the fire
As I watched orange and red flicker
It begins to rapidly spread
Igniting new flames around me
And its warming heat thaws
The cold hearts around me

Chorus

I have felt the fire
As in pain I sat watching myself die
It began to give me new life
Bringing me a new hope
And what wonders the flame leaves
The precious stones of love, hope, and faith.

God let me feel Your fire
Let it burn away the chaff
Let the tares burn with my sin
Let the memories of my failure
Be dust forever forgotten
Burn me in Your flames
Cast me into Your holy furnace
Whether I die or live
Let it be for Your everlasting glory
And so the wonders of Your name
Can spread like wildfire
