Go with him two

The man’s sweat dripped down his face
Dirt clung to his tongue as he panted
Armour weighed heavy on his body
Resentment threatened the more

A mile ago his arduous journey began
Away from games with friends
Wrenched away by that gruff order
He set to walking, walking, walking

Remembering His words at the mark
Looking directly into tired eyes from war
Admiring the weight the man had to carry
Sir, entreat me to carrying this one mile more
